Our Beliefs

WHO WE ARE

Friends Fellowship Church (FFC) is a Spirit-filled, inter-denominational, and an ecumenical church whose motto is to “share friendship, share lives.” FFC is a space for all people who are interested in sharing their talents and stories through friendship and fellowship, thereby becoming relevant not only to the church but also to the society at large. FFC exists to serve people in need by offering food and clothing; stewardship of the natural world which includes planting trees; pastoral care and counseling.

OUR MISSION & VISION

We affirm that all created beings are made in the image and likeness of God, and therefore, equal in the eyes of God. It is our mission to celebrate our humanity irrespective of class, color, sex/gender, sexuality, nationality, ethnicity, homelessness, differently-abled, etc., with friendship and fellowship in Christ. It is a celebration of strength and vulnerabilities; of gifts and talents, of who we are as persons, of opportunities and ideas, of our life’s paths, and of our marginality.

It is a space of mutual acceptance with no judgmental attitude. The aim of this friendship is to not only offer hope and practice faith in God but also an occasion to become a light in the darkness and put faith into action through the service of our community and society at large. It is a Spirit-filled fellowship with an aim to share the gifts and talents with all people we encounter in our daily lives. In short, it is a gospel-centered fellowship with a mission inspired by the Holy Spirit to share Jesus' friendship with all humanity.

FAITH STATEMENT

  • We believe in God, the Universal Spirit, who calls the world out of chaos into being, and created humans in his/her/their image and likeness.

  • God was present and active in history and continues to be ever-present in the lives of the people and the world. God's mission to his creation is organic, evolving, and intervening in dynamics ways.

  • We believe that God seeks to save his/her/their created beings from selfishness, greed, corruption, and advance towards God’s plan of salvation, of love, justice, and peace.

  • We believe in Jesus Christ, the son of God and the man of Nazareth, crucified and risen Lord, who shared our pain and suffering for our salvation, conquering death and resurrecting the life, mediating and reconciling the world to himself.

  • We believe in the Holy Spirit, the presence of God to the believers resides in perfect friendship and fellowship with the Father and the Son. The Spirit is the giver of life who creates and renews the church of Jesus Christ through the friendship of people of all ages, class, color, sex/gender, sexuality, ethnicity, differently-abled, and nationality.

  • God invites all the people to accept the strength and vulnerability of being God’s children and participate in the mission of serving fellow beings and other created companions like trees, animals, and the whole ecological order. He/she/they summons all of us to give the gifts of life (skills and talents) we have received through grace to use for the upliftment of those who have been marginalized and downtrodden.

OUR PRAYER

We believe Jesus Christ who taught the Beatitudes that:

  • Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

  • Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

  • Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

  • Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

  • Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.

  • Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

  • Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

  • Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

  • Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.
